So yeah like I was saying if you have an e-bike and briefly go outside the service area, don't be surprised if you get a weird text that says 'you're outside of the service area, but can continue to ride this bike as long as you return to the service area'. Had to call Divvy's 800 number to get that $25 fee for locking an e-bike outside their service area reversed, but at least they did that in the end. I once briefly did dock a bike right by the Jefferson Park Transit Center then grabbed that same bike to bike back into this service area, and got a stupid text message about a $25 service fee for locking it outside of the Divvy service area(WTF?). the northern section of Albany Park north and west of mostly Lawrence and Kimball(guess there's a slight exception if you go like one to 2 blocks west of Kimball, since there is a docking station just barely east of Northeastern Illinois University), all of Jefferson Park north and west of the southeast corner of Lawrence and Milwaukee, etc. My bigger annoyance about Divvy? The fact that to this day, that some parts of Chicago's outer north and northwest side neighborhoods still aren't in the Divvy service area. Which means Divvy bicycles are now available on the Lyft app, starting at just 1 to unlock. It’s a fun, affordable and convenient way to get around. Lyft is the operator of the Divvy system in Chicago. Start Riding Single Ride 1 to unlock Plus 0.16 a minute for non-members. Divvy is Chicagos bike share system, with 580 stations and 5,800 bikes across Chicagoland. Taking Divvy instead of a car for short trips helps improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions. ![]() But to me with the fact some areas don't have a lot of Divvy stations(especially outside of eastern Evanston) up there, one shouldn't have to pay a slight additional upcharge to lock an e-bike outside a traditional docking station. Riding a bike is great for the environment. For whatever weird reason if you look at Divvy's system map, Evanston is in the primary Divvy system zone. I love being an annual Divvy member, so much myself! One of the few things IMO I'd like to see Divvy change and do, is that to me I wish Evanston was moved into the outer Divvy zone, where you don't have to pay a small upcharge for locking a bike outside a regular docking station.
