![]() This is confirmed in another piece of concept art that lines them up and names them. Perhaps taking him away from Psitanium has done more damage than good. The mental connection between bowling and Ford isn’t super clear right now, but if I had to guess, it has something to do with getting a “split” in bowling and the state of Ford’s mind throughout the first and second game. This was represented by him having multiple personalities and jobs around the summer camp of the first game.įord having his own mental world shouldn’t be a massive surprise to Psychonauts fans, considering how important the character is and the hints at it within that same trailer. He was once a Psychonaut himself, but his mind was damaged and now requires him to be near a steady source of Psitanium in order to function properly. ![]() At the time it was pretty unclear what was ahead, but this latest batch of concept art is a massive hint that this is Ford Cruller’s mind, which is split into different sections.įor the uninitiated, Ford Cruller was a major character in the first game and a mentor to Raz. It’s an entirely discarded concept. In the first big trailer revealed at Xbox’s E3 conference last year we saw brief glimpses of Raz sliding down a barbershop-colored slide, with no indication as to what world this might be. (What really hurts for me is the idea of a recently-lobotomized kid!Loboto encountering animals that are being experimented on and sharing a brief, sad connection with them.)Īlso I just want to note that this is concept art and should not be taken as canon–again, it’s something that never made it into the game in any way, shape, or form. It could be anything from one of Loboto’s parents (perhaps an earlier version of them meant to be more blatantly evil) to a random scientist to perhaps a young adult version of Loboto himself. I have no clue who the figure in the center there is supposed to be. I think the robes he’s wearing could be patient’s robes, too… but it’s also entirely possible that this isn’t kid!Loboto, but (for some reason) a shrunken adult!Loboto? I don’t know why that would be, but there’s absolutely nothing in this that showed up in canon so it’s honestly anyone’s guess. ![]() ![]() I think that’s meant to be kid!Loboto there–my thought is that it could be post-lobotomy, given the shower cap on his head, which could be used to cover any of the cuts on his head (though that’s assuming the lobotomy was not a transorbital). RoR’s concept art shows a lot of ideas that were ultimately discarded (such as ghosts in the cruise ship, animals you could CV to get wildly different views of things, and clockwork crew members on First Mate Loboto’s ship), but this one seems completely detached from ANYTHING we see in the game. WHAT THE CRAP WHAT THE CRAP WHAT THE CRAP. TRIGGER WARNING FOR ANIMAL ABUSE, ANIMAL DEATH, GORE, AND BLOOD. I’m putting the art beneath a cut, and I’ll give a warning because this is legit some of the darkest Psychonauts-related concept art I have seen. This art was found by (and they’ll be posting some more of it themselves I believe) but I just wanted to show this… one particular piece regarding Loboto, because WHAT THE CRAP. So uhhh… there’s some Rhombus of Ruin concept art that hasn’t been seen before.
